Christ and His Abiding Gift of Prophecy
It has been said that the gift of prophecy is one of God’s three choicest gifts to the human family, estranged and separated by sin:—
- The Gift of His Son
- The Gift of The Holy Spirit
- The Gift of Prophesy.
It was inescapable that the giving of His Son made necessary the bestowal of the this heavenly gift we call, the gift of prophecy. It was required as a medium of communication through which the Lord our God might tell a lost, perishing world why He gave His only Son. “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,” Jesus said in fulfillment of his prophetic mission, “because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.” (See Isaiah 61:1 and Luke 4:18.) It’s through this excellent prophetic gift, that God has held communion with man since the fall of Adam. By this method of communication He has ever given, both passed and present, messages of information, guidance and counsel, warning and entreaty to the entire human family.
